Mangochi District, Malawi

Care that walks alongside every child with cerebral palsy.

What began in 2022 as a single physiotherapy clinic at Malawi Children’s Village is now a four-site, multidisciplinary foundation combining clinical care, awareness and advocacy, health-worker training and research so that no child in Mangochi is left behind.

How the work holds together

Four pillars. One system.

01

Integrated Clinical Care

A model that didn't exist in Mangochi before 2023: one visit in which a child receives physiotherapy, nutrition support, medical treatment and health education together.

02

Awareness & Advocacy

Clinical care alone can't undo stigma or late identification. This pillar reaches families earlier, shifts attitudes, and hands caregivers themselves the microphone.

03

Training

Every gain in clinical care and awareness depends on people, at every level, who know how to recognise CP and respond. High staff turnover makes this a continuous effort, not a one-off.

04

Research

Every clinical decision at Patsogolo is backed by data we've gathered ourselves — from a 2023 baseline study to our first PhD trajectory, launched in 2026 to strengthen the evidence behind district-level CP care.

Community awareness

Reaching Mangochi District, one story at a time.

World CP Day

3rd edition

First marked in 2024 and now in its second year, our annual World CP Day brings children, caregivers and community leaders together.

Together, we go further.

We’re setting up how you can give directly, but funding constraints have already forced us to cancel planned wheelchair provision for 11 children. Whether you want to collaborate, follow our work, or simply learn more — every bit of support counts.
